Corn flakes reduce the viscosity of beer (lighten the "body"), increase fermentability, and improve overall drinkability, while maintaining a clean and neutral flavor.

Being pre-gelatinized (processed to make starches easily accessible), they are easily used in the mash. They provide a delicate sweetness and a soft finish (aftertaste) without adding color or overpowering the malt profile.

Torrefied corn flakes, intended for brewing and distilling, consist of corn grits that have been micronized at high temperatures – this activates the starch and thus gelatinizes the corn.

In distilling, corn can also be used to produce bourbon-style whiskey, avoiding pre-cooking the corn.

Crisp Malt's torrefied corn flakes are free from genetically modified organisms (non-GMO).
