AMBER malt
Simpsons AMBER - English Malt
Amber Malt is a lightly roasted malt that imparts toasted, biscuity, and dry nutty flavors, with a warm copper-brown hue. It adds depth, dryness, and a subtle toastiness without excessive bitterness, making it ideal for bitters, milds, porters, brown ales, stouts, and other historically traditional recipes where a crisp, toasted malt base is desired. Compared to highly kilned malts, Amber Malt is drier and more biscuity, providing less sweetness and more roastiness.
Typically used at 5–20%. Amber Malt increases complexity and dryness, balancing sweeter caramel malts while contributing a distinctive toasted, biscuity depth.
