Irish Moss
The main active ingredient extracted from Irish moss is carrageenan. Carrageenan helps to remove haze from beer by binding proteins and other particles that cause cloudiness. This results in clearer beer. Carrageenan can help improve the stability and longevity of beer foam. It can also give beer a slightly thicker texture and fuller mouthfeel. It increases yeast viability during fermentation.
Dosage: 1/4 teaspoon per 23L of wort. Typical dosage 3-4g. Per 20L. Add to boiling wort 10-15 minutes before the end of cooking. Store at a temperature of 5-20 degrees, dry, out of direct sunlight.
